Hunter-Gatherer Energetics and Human Obesity

So, as it turns out, the so-called civilised, or perhaps rather industrialised world can no longer blame their obesity pandemic on their life-style.
Hunter-gatherer societies do not show any difference in daily energy consumption from their fellow human peers that work office jobs.

Monetary monopoly of governments in jeopardy? Stuerzt das Geldmonopol von Regierungen?

A spectre is haunting the world of finance. The spectre of Open Source Money. Bitcoin is currently experiencing media attention, after it was called “the most dangerous project ever seen” by an editor of a investent magazine.

The video and website below explain what bitcoin is, how to obtain them and how to use them. Why is it dangerous to some? Because BitCoin does not require banks, governments and transaction fees. It is anonymous, it is a parallel monetary system governments cannot control (yet).

Watch “16-bit ALU in minecraft” on YouTube

Check out this guy who built an ALU in minecraft, using the means of the game to create binary switches and combine them into an “actual” piece of hardware – the ALU. He plans on adding components to achieve a simple CPU with machine code and a compiler. This is insane, but also demonstrates the potential of 3D VR design. I’m amazed.

RJ11 – oddities between headset and handset connectors?

Are RJ11 handset connectors wired differently from RJ11 headsets? Namely the speaker / microphone parts?

Well at least in my case, this is what it looks like.
I got a 3.5mm -> RJ11 adapter to connect a normal headset to my landline phone instead of the receiver and at first nothing worked – I was about to give up as I thought “nothing to lose – just switch the two 3.5mm cables for speaker and microphone”(even though they were connected correctly according to their symbols/colours) – and hey – it works, even though strictly speaking it shouldn’t ;-)
